Assign
A Faculty Office Selection Protocol

In 1997, upon request of the elected faculty council, Mort Pincus and I devised an impartial office assigment protocol for selection of faculty offices within the University of Iowa College of Business. While the whole idea may seem rather silly, the goal is to change what might be a contentious process into an unambiguous, fair, and transparent one. After all, Henry Kissinger is claimed to have said (freely paraphrased) that faculty politics are the most wicked type of politics, given that so little is at stake.
